Registration Lock Service Explained

It is a new service we've added to the doman manager at MegiWeb.com.

Even if you guard your domain account login info properly, there is still a chance that others can guess your username and password, especially when they choose to do this using computer programs.

Domain registration lock is an extra security measure which prevents anyone from making any changes to your domain account (including ownership change). No changes can be made unless a correct answer to a carefully chosen question is entered. The cost for such a registration lock is free with any domain registered or transfered.

According to a new policy concerning domain transfer (will take effect on November 12, 2004) announced by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the governing body charged with overseeing the domain name system, it makes it easier for a stranger to make a domain registration change without your consent.
